Called to the Ontario bar in 1991, Ian handles complex criminal, quasi-criminal, regulatory and professional discipline matters. Before entering private practice, he was Litigation Counsel at the Ontario Securities Commission (where he acted on some of the Commission’s largest cases) and at the Crown Law Office (Criminal) (where he argued criminal appeals and prosecuted matters involving large-scale white collar crime).

He has appeared at all levels of Court in Canada, including more than a dozen appearances in the Supreme Court of Canada and hundreds of appearances in the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

Andrew practises in the areas of criminal law, regulatory defence and constitutional law. He has worked on cases at all levels of court in Ontario and British Columbia.

Prior to joining Fenton, Smith Barristers, Andrew was an associate at and articled with two of Canada’s preeminent criminal law firms. He also interned with the Prosecution Division of the International Criminal Court in The Hague and was a judicial law clerk at the British Columbia Court of Appeal.
